    RBD Palm Oil

RBD Palm Oil – Refined Oils product from Bio Green Oils and Fats

    About This Product

RBD palm oil is pressed from the fleshy mesocarp of the fruit of the oil palm, Elaeis guineensis, then refined, bleached and deodorised. Crude palm oil is deep orange from its carotene content; refining removes the pigment and leaves a pale, semi-solid fat with a neutral odour. It carries CAS number 8002-75-3. It is distinct from palm kernel oil, which comes from the seed inside the same fruit. Palm oil is unusual in being naturally balanced: palmitic acid accounts for roughly 44 percent of its fatty acids and oleic acid for around 39 percent, with linoleic and stearic making up most of the balance. That near-even split of saturated and unsaturated chains is why the oil is plastic and semi-solid between about 33 and 39 degrees Celsius rather than being either a pourable liquid or a hard fat. It is the reason palm oil replaced partially hydrogenated oils in so many formulations: it delivers solid structure and a stable frying life without hydrogenation, and therefore without trans fatty acids. It is used in shortenings and margarines, bakery fats, fillings and spreads, frying oils, instant noodles, sauces and processed foods, as well as in soap manufacture and as oleochemical feedstock. Bio Green Oils and Fats supplies RBD palm oil to specification on free fatty acid, peroxide and iodine value, moisture, Lovibond colour and slip melting point, with RSPO segregated, mass balance or book and claim certification available on request.
